Workshops/Arts and the Social Web
From Elearning
Social networking and collaboration technologies are rapidly becoming the backbone of the web, and already play a central role in the online experience of our students. They are also increasingly being integrated into our students’ educational experience.
First run by the META Centre in October 2007, Arts and the Social Web is a program for staff wishing to become familiar with these technologies - espeically blogs, social bookmarking, web documents and podcasting - and to learn how to effectively incorporate them into teaching, research and administration. The program helps participants explore the way these technologies can be combined to create a collaborative learning space. Participants get experience in using these technologies over a number of weeks in a safe environment. They also learn how to go beyond the limitations of WebCT and use the tools themselves to develop some online communication and collaboration strategies specifically for their discipline.
The site has an associated USYD Blog at http://blogs.usyd.edu.au/artssocialweb, with pdf handouts from the course.
The workshop is run by Marie-Thérèse Barbaux and Justin Tauber.
